The Easiest and Yummiest Pizza Crust Recipe - Ever!

Yesterday, in A Page from My Journal, I talked about making pizza for dinner. I thought I would share with you my recipe. Several years ago, I came across this recipe in an old Betty Crocker cookbook passed down from my grandma. I couldn't believe how easy and simple it was, yet how delicious it tasted and I became hooked. I've never made another crust since. This stuff is good enough to make breadsticks with as well. Without further ado, here it is:

Pizza Crust

1 pkg. active dry yeast (about 2 1/4 tsp.)
1 c. warm water (105-115 degrees)
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
2 1/2 c. all-purpose or whole wheat flour

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in remaining ingredients; beat vigorously 20 strokes. Let rest about 5 minutes.

And that's it, folks! Roll it out, put your toppings on, and stick it in the oven. I never use pizza sauce, but instead use spaghetti sauce. It's cheaper and I usually always have it on hand - plus you can't taste a difference.

Now it's your turn: Leave me a comment and tell me what your favorite pizza toppings are!

  1. Do you par bake the crust in the oven? What temp and how long do you cook it? This sounds yummy and much simplier than my recipe. Thanks for sharing!

  2. This sounds great! We make homemade pizza here too! We like bell peppers, mushrooms, onion and olives. ( my three year old is crazy about olives) I have also found if I don't have spagetti sauce on hand I can use a small can of tomato sauce and add italian seasoning, garlic, a little oil, a little salt and a little sugar and it makes a great pizza sauce in a pinch. 3. Mrs. Team S - I usually put all the toppings on the crust and then bake it in the oven at 375 degrees for about 12-15 minutes. Each time it's different (depends on the toppings) so just bake it until it looks done. :)

  4. Ooooo.... yumm I LOVE pizza, and who wouldn't! You are making my mouth watter with this post! lol

Another neat idea that I use for pizza sauce is 1 can of tomato sauce and add 1 TBL. basil, Oregano, garlic powder, minced onion, and thyme! Also you can add a pinch of herbs in you pizza dough too, and when your pizzas are done add a mixture of melted butter, Pinch of basil, garlic powder and Parmesan cheese and spread it on the crust! DELISH! :)

My favorite toppings are any veggies, and any meat really! My FAVORITE is avocado, bacon, and chicken! Mmmmm... so yummy!

    Thanks for sharing!
