And now for this week's poll question:
How many times a week do you cook?Considering there's only one woman/girl in my household, I think my answer to that question is pretty obvious. :) But we also go to at least one of our parent's house for dinner each week, so if I'm honest, I only cook about 5-6 meals a week. I have a fabulous husband who would be happy to each the same thing every night and doesn't need lots of side dishes or bread to go with it. So, basically, I'm a pretty spoiled wife. I can cook one meal, make a salad, and we'll eat that for two nights in a row. Ahhhh -- I'm so blessed!
So what about you? How many times a week do you cook?
It's hard to answer this question as I am still living at home and have 6 younger sisters as well as a younger brother who loves to cook. So to make it easier on herself and to make sure everyone knows how to cook we cook all the meals for a month and then get moved to a knew job at the start of a month.
ReplyDeleteThe last time I kitchen as a monthly job was back in November. And since then it's been anywhere from once weekly to six times weekly.
But I love to cook, so if I could balance it with my chores and not get the current kitchen sister upset I would cook daily.
I voted 8+. My family and I cook and bake all our meals from scratch and we grow most of our own ingredients/food too. I usually make the breakfasts every morning but sometimes someone else in my family will. I make about 3-4 of our dinners a week, but usually it is my sister and I who both work on it together. So I think do make about 8+ meals a week. That got me thinking. I'm going to count exactly how many meals I make this week!

This was rather difficult for me to answer accurately. Four evening meals a week are prepared by my three wonderful children still living at home. I do the other two and usually prepare 5 lunches a week, though they aren't necessarily "cooked" (often leftovers, fresh fruits/vegetables, etc.). One evening my thoughtful husband brings home dinner for the children and we have a date night!
ReplyDeleteWe all miss your cooking though, Gretchen!
I'm a mom with 3 kiddos (5, 2 1/2, and 10 months). So they really aren't old enough to cook by themselves yet. Though my older two love to help and my 5yo can make simple things, like sandwiches, with minimal help. So for the most part I prepare all the meals. Though it's not all "cooking". For example, for breakfast we will often have more simple things like cereal, oatmeal, cottage cheese with peaches, yogurt with granola and berries, etc. We also eat out once a week. For the most part, though I'm responsible for about 19 meals a week...and countless snacks!
